Alonnisos Map

                                                    Welcome to Alonnisos

Alonnisos
has beautiful scenery, views and crystal clear waters. Alonnisos is the perfect choice for swimming, snorkeling, bird watching or just wanting to escape the crowds. Ideal for families, romantic couples and nature lovers. The Island also offers wonderful walking opportunities.

Alonnisos has many beaches which boast crystal clear waters with opine trees that almost reach right down to the sea edge. Most of the beaches have small, simple tavernas and are pebbly with the exception of one which is sandy! Most popular beaches are Agios Dimitrios, Chrisi Milia, George Gialos, Kokinokastro, Leftos Gialos, Megalos Mourtias, Rousoum Gialos, Votsi and Stena Vala.

Alonnisos has many things to offer aside from its beaches. Amongst others is Agii Anargiri (Historical & Folklore museum), Kastana Gorge, Chora (Old town) which has a unique charm and is extremely picturesque, Patitiri (main port and capitol of the Island).

Rest at one of the many taverns & restaurants in town where you will always find fresh delicious fish caught one of the about 250 boats that makes the largest working fishing fleet in the Aegean.

Alonnisos is also the center for the Marine Park of the Aegean which was the first Marine Park to be established in Greece in 1992. There are 6 main Islands in the park area; Alonnisos, Peristera, Skantzoura, Gioura, Kira Panagia and Piperi along with 22 rocky islets. The Marine park is home to the Mediterranean Monk Seal. One of the rarest mammals in Europe and endangered species. Also inhabits 300 species of fish and around 80 species of birds. It has rare species such as Eleonora Falcon, Audouin Gull and a rare type of goat found on the island of Gioura. This is why Alonnisos is considered a flavoured eco-tourism destination.

SkyMap wishes you a pleasant stay…
